Iris pallida is a perennial herb, and is known as a bearded iris, grown from rhizomes. It reaches 19"-30" tall. Leaves are bluish-green in color (sometimes variegated) and sword-shaped, 16"-19" in length. The inflorescence, produced in May or June, is fan-shaped and contains 2 or 3 flowers. Color depends on the cultivar. Iris likes full sun and well-drained soil. Clumps may be divided every 3-4 years. It makes great cut flowers. This plant is poisonous.

Planting: 1. Dig a hole 1" less the depth and 2 times the width of the container. 2. Fill hole with water, let soak. 3. Set root ball in hole. 4. Fill hole halfway with native soil and water. 5. Finish back filling hole, build basin and water.
